The GAAS Public Forum is one of the flagship programmes of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS), convened to facilitate evidence-based dialogue on critical national issues. The 2025 edition, held from 2nd – 4th June 2025 at the GAAS Auditorium in Accra, focused on the theme “Galamsey Revisited”, examining the complex effects of illegal mining on Ghana’s environment, health, economy, and institutions.
The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS) has successfully concluded a high-level meeting with key stakeholders to finalize plans for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Science and Technology Centre (STC) in Ghana. This initiative aims to bolster science literacy and innovation through inclusive, hands-on learning experiences for diverse communities. The meeting took place at the GAAS Secretariat on 26th March 2025, in Accra.
The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS), in its commitment to fostering intellectual discourse and evidence-based policymaking, hosted Prof. Peter Quartey, FGA’s inaugural lecture on March 13, 2025, at the GAAS auditorium in Accra. As part of GAAS’s efforts to shape national economic discussions, the lecture explored the theme “Debt, Investment, and Growth in Ghana: Did We Borrow to Consume?”, providing critical insights into the country’s fiscal challenges and policy direction.
