Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) is collaborating with some Fellows of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS) to conduct research into components of cocoa that can aid in the management of some life-threatening infections and metabolic diseases globally. The research forms part of COCOBOD’s programme to increase the usage for cocoa beyond the confectionery and cosmetic industries, and thereby expand the global market for cocoa.
The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on the 6th day of May 2021 hosted an annual lecture in the Arts on the topic ‘Divinity and Epidemiology: Religion and Public Health in the History of Pandemics in Africa (1918-2020)’’ which was delivered by Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, FGA. The lecture started at exactly 5:30 pm with a welcome address and an introduction of the chairman by the assistant honorary secretary of the academy thus Prof. Joshua Yindenaba Abor, FGA. The chairman of the occasion and vice president of the Arts section of the academy, Prof. Kofi Opoku Nti, FGA accepted the call.
The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences has held its annual three-day J. B. Danquah Memorial Lectures from 22nd -24th February 2021. This year’s lecture which was themed; “The Family Our Nation: An Agenda for the 21st Century” was the 54th Edition of the J. B. Danquah Lecture series. Emerita Professor Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf, FGA was the speaker for all three days; she is a geographer, an environmental advisor, a development consultant, and an expert in rural energy systems.
