Prof. F.K.A. Allotey is currently the President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences and former Chairman of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. He is a full professor of Mathematics and the first to formulate The Theory of Electron-Hole Resonance Effect in Metals in 1976. He was elected Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1971. Prof. Allotey has won numerous local and international awards including the Academy’s first Gold Award in 1973. Prof. Allotey is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council on Molecular Frontiers, USA, a Council comprising 25 leading scientists, seven of whom are Nobel Laureates in Science. Prof Allotey has been involved locally and internationally on policies and issues related to science and technology for development. Thus he is a focal person for UN Advanced Technology Alert System since its formation. In June 2012, Prof. Allotey was elected Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Physics, UK.
