Prof Aba Bentil Andam is the President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences. She, is a Chartered Physicist with a Doctorate in Cosmic Radiation Physics from the University of Durham, UK. She has held various professional positions including the Head of the Department of Physics, KNUST and membership of the Governing Board of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. She is the first recipient of the prestigious Chair for UNESCO Women in Science and Technology in Africa.

    She has worked as Research Physicist at DESY in Hamburg, Germany where she contributed to research on electron-positron interactions.

    Prof. Aba Andam is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Physics. She is Associate Professor at the School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences, Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, pursuing research in Natural Background Radiation. She was elected Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in October 2003.
