PROF. HENRIETTA MENSA-BONSU SWORN INTO OFFICE AS JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT.

On Tuesday, 26 May, 2020, Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu became the 5th female to be sworn into office as justice of the Supreme Court. The President of the Academy was sworn in alongside Justice Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi, by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“You have met the stringent requirements of article 128 clause (4) of the Constitution and have exhibited independent of spirit, proven integrity, high moral character and impartiality of mind to hold this high office.” The President stated addressed to Professor Mensa-Bonsu.

The president expressed his admiration for the credentials of Justice Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu and his excitement of having the privilege of swearing her into office. The President continued to pledge his confidence in the Professor Mensa-Bonsu’s appointment, which “will help strengthen the development of the court’s jurisprudence and case law”

Justice Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, Professor of law, President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, was the immediate past director of the Legon Centre for international affairs and diplomacy; and former deputy special representative (Rule of Law) to the United Nation Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for Liberia.
